Spring preteens at ICP at THE POINT!

Last week we had the first day at the Monday preteen class at ICP at THE POINT. The class explored how to use the 35mm camera, what each function does, and discussed exposure, aperture, light meter, focus, and camera handling.

We loaded film together for the first time and then our students were ready to document their day-to-day lives and community stories with their analog cameras.

Everybody was so excited!

The group divided in different teams and each team looked through photography books and chose their favorite pictures. They explained to the rest of the class why they liked the photo and talked about composition and the power of storytelling. Finally, the students got to work in the studio and made portraits focusing on capturing emotions using different angles and techniques.
